Continuing the #portaone_education_FAQ column, we answer two important questions asked by our potential students.

To take part in any of our educational programmes, you need to have:

1) A PC/laptop  where you can run virtual machines, in our case on VirtualBox base. There are no specific requirements for the PC, but it is desirable to have a system with 64-bit architecture. But even if you don’t  have all this, please contact us. We can help!

2) Stable Internet connection,

3) A video camera, speakers and a microphone. The video camera must be switched on and the microphone and speaker system must be in working condition for the lessons.

4) Installed Zoom. The details of the first meeting and some organizational information will be sent to you one week before we start a session.

As for the other part of the question. Actually, our courses Linux &Network Administration is designed for all newbies, and we are teaching from scratch. But logically, new knowledge is easier for those who are already familiar with the basic concepts of technology and computing.

So to make your start in IT-sphere easier, we ask you to listen/read any introductory course in IT basics, e.g. CS50 (Harvard Computer Science 50). If you are interested, please email us and we will provide you with a list of recommended literature and links to video materials which you should review before the start of the course.
