Become a Support Engineer  is a paid online internship program which lasts 3 months. It is an official part-time job which you can combine with your primary job or training.

The enrollment process includes an entrance test and an interview. IT educational background is necessary: the candidates should have knowledge and hands-on experience in Linux and computer systems. English language skills (level A2+) are required.

Be prepared to spend at least 4 hours a day, including office hours (UTC +3). The best graduates will be offered a regular position of a technical support engineer without any additional interviews or tests.

Who is this program for?

This program is for those who want to gain real experience how to deal with customers’ requests and find solutions to complex issues in a team of technical support engineers. You will be able to solve customers’ issues under the guidance of experienced mentors. Minimum of dull theory, maximum of practice and interesting cases!

Our Education Manager has been teaching at the PortaOne Education Center since 2008 when the project was launched. Over 300 students have graduated from the Education Center under his mentorship, 149 of them became PortaOne colleagues.

Roman Volkov

Roma joined the company in 2012. Since then more than two hundred students have successfully completed their studies, 78 of whom became part of the PortaOne team.

Module 1 – Linux & Networks

Linux management – Bash shell, file systems, processes, system utilities,

Installing and updating the software (repositories, yum, rpm),

Functionality of IP networks, the OSI model and the TCP/IP protocol stack, protocols, basic utilities,

Addressing and routing in IP networks, Network modeling, traffic analyzer, network security,

Installing and working with Percona MySQL DBMS,

Web server application part – Apache, virtual hosts, encryption, LAMP stack.

 Module 2 – VoIP

Voice-over-IP (VoIP) / SIP (current de-facto standard for communications) / RADIUS,

Communication and customer-centric strategy,

Modern telecom billing systems,

PortaSwitch – architecture and administration of integrated softswitch and billing platform.

Module 3 – Practical part

Business models in Telecommunications Sector,

Business processes and workflow,

Real task solving under the guidance of experienced mentors,

Technical troubleshooting.

You acquire

Up-to-date knowledge of Linux management, computer networks, relational databases, web servers – you can set up a web server, database server, set up replication, etc.

Basics of IP telephony at the level of signaling protocols and transmission of voice data

Troubleshooting skills necessary for a successful career in technical support, you will be able to find and solve problems with server speed

A certificate from the PortaOne Educational Center provided you have completed the program, passed all tests and practical assignments

Graduates will be offered a regular position in PortaOne team without any additional interviews
